Tampa closing tennis program

The city of Tampa announced layoffs of 120 full-time employees in a $14 million budget cut. Another 99 unfilled positions will remain unfilled. Substantial part of the cuts are in  the Parks and Recreation Department and include multiple programs. Two public swimming pools will be closed, the summer reading program, art reach program, tennis program and various enrichment programs are being eliminated.   The city of Daytona is also considering similar cuts including their subsidy for the USTA Florida Tennis Center.
