Tallahassee lifeguards save lives on tennis court

City lifeguards leaped into action twice to help distressed athletes — helping one of them survive an apparent heart attack. Both incidents occurred at Forestmeadows Athletic Center. An unidentified tennis player collapsed from the heat and was revived with oxygen provided by lifeguards at the adjacent pool. The day after, a 62-year-old tennis player collapsed with an apparent heart attack. Four young lifeguards raced over from the pool. With the help of a physician also playing tennis, they revived the man using a defibrillator, oxygen and CPR techniques. The player, who had no pulse and was not breathing when they arrived, recovered well enough to sit up and make jokes (”Did I get the point?”)…read article…
